Classical Guitarist Brett Grigsby

Brett Grigsby completed his Masters in Guitar Performance from the Mannes College of Music in New York City.  During that time, Brett was a Concert Artist Guild finalist, awarded solo recitals at the esteemed St. John’s Chapel, and at the Weill Recital Hall as part of Carnegie Hall’s series for young musicians making their New York City debut.  Since, a sample of Brett’s performances in the United States and Canada include solo recitals at the 92nd St Y, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, an all Bach program at Steinway Hall, the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society, and the Domain Forget International Festival in Charlevoix, Canada.
Most recently Brett has become a member of the Finger Lakes Guitar Quartet with a newly commissioned work written for the group by Evan Mack performed with the Albany Symphony Orchestra.  A sample of performances with this group include the Lenten Chamber Music Series in Hartford, CT, the Esbenshade Concert Series at Marietta College, the de Blasis Music Series at the Hyde Collection, and the Luzerne Chamber Music Festival.
Having held several teaching positions at various colleges and universities, Brett is currently on the music faculty at Skidmore College.   Brett has built a private practice dedicated to a teaching program at the highest level of young classical guitarists and coaches several varied guitar ensembles.  Most recently one of Brett’s student ensembles was awarded a performance at the Festival for Young Concert Artists at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
Brett has given Master Class performances for Andrew York, Scott Tennant, Nigel North, Hubert Kappel, Bruce Holzman, and Roberto Aussel.
Studies with Joel Brown, Pat O’Brien, Michael Newman, Fred Hand, Peter Segal, Ben Verdery, and Patrick Roux.
